Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to clean and inspect pooled equipment.It includes identifying workplace procedures, resources and job specifications for cleaning pooled equipment; inspecting and cleaning pooled equipment; and monitoring and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of pooled equipment, cleaning and storage areas relevant to pooled equipment manufacturing processes.Work is generally performed under some supervision, within a team or group environment.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for inspecting and cleaning pooled equipment
  • 1.1 Workplace operating procedures, including work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements for pooled equipment cleaning, are identified and read
  • 1.2 Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
  • 1.3 Equipment, including appropriate engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE) and consumables, are selected in accordance with work area requirements
  • 1.4 Specific requirements for pooled equipment inspection and cleaning are identified and used in planning of work activities
  • 1.5 Requirements for organisation of pooled equipment storage before and after cleaning are identified to meet workplace requirements
2 Inspect and clean pooled equipment
  • 2.1 Information on serviceability requirements of pooled equipment for required purposes is accessed and read
  • 2.2 Pooled equipment design features are noted and types are identified for purpose
  • 2.3 Pooled equipment is inspected prior to and during cleaning to ensure condition is appropriate for required use
  • 2.4 Damaged pooled equipment is tagged for repair, recycling or disposal and reported to relevant personnel
  • 2.5 Pooled equipment is cleaned following workplace procedures
  • 2.6 Pooled equipment is sorted and stacked in appropriate storage areas
  • 2.7 Work is carried out in accordance with workplace practices and safe work procedures
3 Monitor and maintain cleanliness and tidiness of pooled equipment cleaning and storage areas
  • 3.1 Pooled equipment cleaning and storage area is continuously monitored for cleanliness, safety and tidiness
  • 3.2 Housekeeping issues are raised with appropriate personnel in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained and stored
4 Complete assigned pooled equipment cleaning and inspection duties
  • 4.1 Assigned pooled equipment cleaning and inspection duties are conducted in accordance with workplace requirements
  • 4.2 Documentation concerning cleaning operations is completed in accordance with workplace procedures
