This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to select and obtain waste management plant, equipment and materials to meet service requirements. The unit covers sourcing and obtaining plant, equipment and materials which are fit for purpose based on an assessment of performance characteristics, usage patterns and budget constraints. The unit also covers negotiating with suppliers relating to purchase, hire and leasing options, and maintaining industry relationships and supply networks.The unit supports those who work in lead roles in a waste management team.No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.
