This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to plan the production of timber from flitches and cants in a timber processing facility. Work involves responsibilities in planning cutting patterns and schedules, coordinating sawing processes and monitoring equipment and output for improvement. The unit applies to individuals who work as supervisors and production supervisors in timber processing facilities.
