DescriptorThis unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to respond in the event of an emergency to reduce the risk of injury to personnel and damage to equipment

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Implement emergency procedures in the event of a fire
  • 1.1 Identify fire and raise alarm
  • 1.2 Apply appropriate fire fighting equipment
  • 1.3 Follow emergency procedures in the event of a fire in accordance with organisation policies and procedures
  • 1.4 Summon medical support, once chamber has surfaced and provide first aid to occupants as required
2. Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment failure
  • 2.1 Identify equipment failure and raise alarm
  • 2.2 Maintain chamber pressure
  • 2.3 Follow emergency procedure in the event of equipment failure in accordance with organisation policies and procedures
3. Implement emergency procedures in the event of personnel emergency
  • 3.1 Notify nurse located outside of emergency and raise alarm
  • 3.2 Complete transfer of personnel under pressure if required, in accordance with organisation policies and procedures
  • 3.3 Follow emergency procedure in the event of personnel emergency in accordance with organisation policies and procedures
