Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research cryptocurrency technologies, such as blockchain. It includes researching and identifying the advantages and disadvantages of industry-recognised cryptocurrency technologies in meeting organisational requirements. It also includes sourcing cryptocurrency technologies from required third-party vendors.The unit applies to individuals who may work in a variety of entry-level cryptocurrency roles across multiple industries, including as assistants to cyber security technicians, cryptocurrency developers, analysts, traders and brokers.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Establish organisational cryptocurrency technology requirements
  • 1.1 Confirm work brief and tasks according to organisational policies and procedures
  • 1.2 Confirm available research platforms and methods for identifying potential cryptocurrency technologies
  • 1.3 Inspect existing organisational software, financial and accounting records, asset registers, and information technology (IT) controls according to work brief, and confirm cryptocurrency needs
2. Review and report on cryptocurrency technologies
  • 2.1 Research available cryptocurrency technologies and compare their advantages and disadvantages
  • 2.2 Summarise characteristics of cryptocurrency platforms across selected cryptocurrency technologies according to work brief
  • 2.3 Summarise advantages, disadvantages and risks of using researched cryptocurrencies according to work brief
  • 2.4 Present summary report to required personnel and seek feedback
  • 2.5 Implement required feedback in summary report as required
  • 2.6 Select and recommend required cryptocurrency technologies according to organisational policies and procedures
3. Source cryptocurrency technologies
  • 3.1 Seek approval of recommended cryptocurrency technologies according to procurement policies and procedures
  • 3.2 Request selected cryptocurrency technologies from required third-party vendors according to organisational policies and procedures
