Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to analyse and apply knowledge of configuration management in accordance with relevant organisational policy and procedures. The application of this knowledge is required by people who are not configuration management specialists but who need the knowledge to inform their decision making. The application of configuration management knowledge is specific to a variety of component processes in material logistics activities. This unit was developed for logistics specialists working within materiel logistics but is applicable to individuals in broader logistics roles.Typically these individuals work independently or as part of a team under direct and/or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Access and interpret relevant configuration management information
- 1.1 Relevant configuration management requirements are identified and obtained
- 1.2 Configuration management information obtained is analysed to determine relevance and application to the organisation
- 1.3 Outcomes of the analysis are documented and recommendations relevant to configuration management requirements are determined
2 Use knowledge of configuration management
- 2.1 Configuration management requirements and recommendations relevant to materiel and materiel logistics are applied in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
- 2.2 Effectiveness of recommendations is assessed, reviewed and recorded in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
- 2.3 Recommendations are adjusted as required and documented for future application in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
