Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare, plan and conduct drilling operations using a cyber chair. It applies to those working in operational roles for cyber chair drilling. They generally perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a wide variety of contexts, which may involve some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services and contingency measures.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for drilling operations
  • 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
  • 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to conduct cyber chair drilling operations and confirm work activity is compliant
  • 1.3 Identify and minimise environmental issues and potential hazards, and assess and address risks within scope of own role and according to workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activity
  • 1.5 Communicate with other personnel at site according to work requirements and confirm briefings and handover details are communicated and received
2. Plan for drilling operations
  • 2.1 Apply procedures for monitoring, recording and reporting according to legislative and work requirements
  • 2.2 Identify any indicators of hazards while drilling and report and take necessary action as required
  • 2.3 Confirm all equipment being used has been functioned tested and tests recorded and reported as per regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
3. Conduct cyber chair drilling operations
  • 3.1 Conduct drilling operations as per company and client operational requirements
  • 3.2 Interpret data and information gathered from monitoring system and relay to supervisors as required and take necessary action as required to control the well
  • 3.3 Follow company shut in procedures in case of well control issues and implement controls to make workplace safe
4. Perform housekeeping, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
  • 4.1 Clean equipment according to workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Demonstrate emergency response procedures in case of equipment failure according to workplace procedures
  • 4.3 Demonstrate equipment restart after emergency shut down or power failure according to manufacturer specifications and workplace procedures
  • 4.4 Complete and file or distribute documentation for drilling operations and equipment in a manner that complies with workplace and legislative requirements
