This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to monitor site production activities in the resources and infrastructure industries.It applies to those working in supervisory and technical specialist roles. They generally work under minimal supervision to undertake a broad range of skilled applications in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements may apply to this unit and can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for production
  • 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
  • 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to monitor site production activities
  • 1.3 Plan and prepare work activity to meet the required production outcomes
  • 1.4 Establish and maintain communication with relevant personnel, identify team responsibilities, shift activities and shift changeover details according to workplace procedures
  • 1.5 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures according to workplace procedures
  • 1.6 Complete computer systems and equipment prestart checks according to workplace procedures
  • 1.7 Check previous shift details and record in writing outstanding maintenance inspections and identified defects
2. Allocate and log resources
  • 2.1 Allocate and log hauling equipment to loading equipment
  • 2.2 nterpret data and re-allocate equipment to maintain productivity and to meet changing conditions within scope of own role
  • 2.3 Access employee and contractor details and allocate personnel to specific types of plant and equipment to ensure productivity
  • 2.4 Maintain records of employee equipment productivity
3. Monitor and report plant and equipment activity
  • 3.1 Monitor and report the current status of the operation/production and plant and equipment
  • 3.2 Monitor data to identify the location of equipment on site
  • 3.3 Interpret data to determine the location of where material is being moved, haul distances, and the location for dumping of materials
  • 3.4 Interpret data to determine and generate reports on plant and equipment usage, availability and productivity
  • 3.5 Capture data insights for measuring operational outputs and resource usage, and report total usage and resource consumption rates to relevant personnel
4. Monitor movement of materials
  • 4.1 Log the movement of plant and equipment and the quantities of materials moved according to workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Monitor and report stock levels that are available and dispatched according to workplace procedures
  • 4.3 Monitor and report productivity rates and cycle times according to workplace procedures
