Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake general site maintenance.It includes preparing for work, conducting site housekeeping functions, applying pest and vegetation control measures, and completing all work requirements.Work is performed under minimal supervision, generally within a team environment.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare for work
  • 1.1 Received planned preventative maintenance schedule and work orders, including drawings, sketches and material lists, are reviewed, understood and confirmed by site inspection
  • 1.2 Liaison and communication issues with relevant site personnel are resolved prior to commencing work
  • 1.3 Hazards are identified and control measures implemented prior to commencing work
  • 1.4 Site safety requirements are observed in accordance with workplace procedures
2 Conduct site housekeeping functions
  • 2.1 Site, including stores and materials, is laid out to floor plan in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.2 Equipment and materials are fit for purpose and checked for serviceability
  • 2.3 Minor earthwork maintenance is conducted in accordance with work order
  • 2.4 Excess materials and refuse are disposed of or returned in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.5 Equipment is cleaned and inspected prior to return in accordance with workplace procedures
3 Apply pest and vegetation control measures
  • 3.1 Pest and vegetation control requirements are identified, and appropriate control measures are selected in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Chemical control agents are prepared in accordance with manufacturer safety requirements and workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Pest control measures are applied following product instructions and previous records are monitored to ensure effective application doses are adapted to maintain effectiveness
  • 3.4 Pests and vegetation from previous applications are removed in accordance with workplace procedures prior to reapplication
4 Complete work
  • 4.1 Worksite is rehabilitated in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Work completion details are finalised, recorded, documented and relevant personnel advised
