Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to position and set up mobile lighting in the resources and infrastructure industries.It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements may apply to this unit and can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for position and set up of mobile lighting
- 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
- 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to position and set up mobile lighting
- 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures according to workplace procedures
- 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- 1.5 Receive, interpret and confirm shift changeover details
- 1.6 Identify the plant and equipment and/or attachments for the work activities
- 1.7 Identify and obtain barricade and signage requirements
- 1.8 Conduct equipment pre-start checks according to workplace procedures
- 1.9 Secure all equipment in preparation for towing according to workplace procedures
- 1.10 Communicate and coordinate activities with relevant personnel throughout the work activities
- 1.11 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for emergency situations
2. Position and activate lighting
- 2.1 Isolate area using barricades and signage
- 2.2 Position lighting to suit work activities and site conditions
- 2.3 Test lights according to workplace procedures, including start up and shutdown procedures
- 2.4 Activate lights according to workplace procedures
- 2.5 Assess visibility of site and suitability of lighting location with relevant personnel and reposition as required according to workplace procedures
- 2.6 Process written maintenance records according to workplace procedures
