Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to develop, and apply knowledge through the provision of advice to others, offertiliser and soil ameliorant products, including storage and handling.The unit applies to individuals who develop and apply knowledge of fertiliser and soil ameliorant products under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, health and safety in the workplace requirements, legislative and regulatory requirements, and environment and biosecurity practices.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Develop and provide information on fertiliser and soil ameliorant product use and issues
  • 1.1 Source information about new products and developments
  • 1.2 Provide information about fertiliser and soil ameliorant product to customers
  • 1.3 Identify and explain workplace health and safety, food safety and environmental issues relating to fertiliser and soil ameliorant products to customers
  • 1.4 Identify and describe bulk fertiliser and soil ameliorant products to customers
  • 1.5 Identify and maintain fertiliser and soil ameliorant products biosecurity protocols and quarantine procedures
2. Store and handle fertiliser and soil ameliorant products
  • 2.1 Select, fit, use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable to the task
  • 2.2 Identify product storage and handling requirements
  • 2.3 Identify potential hazards and risks, and implement safe working practices to manage risks
  • 2.4 Identify environmental risks associated with particular products, and take appropriate action to minimise risks
