Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes required to remove and replace new or repaired vehicle body panels, body sections, and ancillary fittings.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a specialist level.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare
  • 1.1 Work instructions and job specifications are identified and confirmed
  • 1.2 Tools and equipment required for the job are selected and inspected for safe operation
  • 1.3 Work area is prepared to ensure safety of personnel, workplace and other vehicles
  • 1.4 Repair plan is developed and confirmed with appropriate personnel
2. Replace body panels and fittings
  • 2.1 Workplace procedures are identified and followed
  • 2.2 Replacement information is identified and interpreted from original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications
  • 2.3 Components are refitted using OEM approved methods, materials and equipment
  • 2.4 Sealant is selected and applied according to OEM specifications
  • 2.5 Replacement activities are completed within industry timelines and standards
3. Repair faulty or damaged panels
  • 3.1 Damaged sections are inspected and a rectification process identified
  • 3.2 Damaged or faulty panels are rectified according to workplace procedures and quality standards
  • 3.3 Repair documentation is completed according to workplace procedures
4. Complete work processes
  • 4.1 Work area is cleaned, and materials disposed of or recycled according to workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked and stored according to workplace procedures
  • 4.3 Faulty equipment is tagged and reported
  • 4.4 Work sheets are completed according to workplace procedures
