Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and transport equipment and a light competition vehicle. It involves preparing for the task, selecting and packing tools and equipment, fitting transportation devices, components and covers to a competition vehicle, and loading and unloading required tools, equipment and competition vehicle. The light competition vehicles are under 300 kg of unladen weight, including go-carts, motorcycles, mountain bikes or jet skis.The unit applies to those working in the motor sport industry. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare requirements for motor sport event
  • 1.1 Determine job requirements from team instructions, category rules and supplementary regulations
  • 1.2 Source and select specific tooling and equipment needed for event
  • 1.3 Pack tools and equipment for transportation and secure to avoid damage
  • 1.4 Check equipment listing and account for resources
2. Load and secure light competition vehicle and tools and equipment for transportation
  • 2.1 Compile checklist for securing resources and vehicle
  • 2.2 Load vehicle, tools and equipment according to safety requirements and team procedures
  • 2.3 Secure vehicle, tools and equipment and check restraint mechanisms according to safety requirements and team procedures
  • 2.4 Store hazardous material according to safety requirements and team procedures
  • 2.5 Secure transporter tailgates, ramps, doors and bins as required according to safety requirements and team procedures
3. Unload vehicle, tools and equipment
  • 3.1 Release vehicle, tools and equipment from restraints and unload according to safety requirements and team procedures
  • 3.2 Clean transport vehicle and prepare for subsequent use
  • 3.3 Check restraint mechanisms and holding points for integrity according to team procedures
  • 3.4 Report problems with transport vehicle to specified personnel as required and according to team procedures
