This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to schedule and coordinate load shifting activities for a range of material handling requirements.The unit applies to workers who monitor and coordinate load shifting activities for safe and efficient operations in a forest products factory setting.Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit in some states and territories at the time of publication, and may differ according to jurisdiction.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Schedule load shifting
- 1.1 Review production and despatch schedules and where required check with appropriate personnel.
- 1.2 Assess equipment operations for all sections of the organisation.
- 1.3 Determine material handling requirements for loads and schedule required type of equipment to meet requirements.
- 1.4 Identify movement frequencies and develop material handling schedules.
- 1.5 Identify and assess variations in material handling requirements and product despatch requirements.
- 1.6 Adjust material handling schedules to maintain optimal output.
2. Coordinate load shifting
- 2.1 Coordinate load shifting arrangements for operators to ensure safe and efficient use of equipment.
- 2.2 Assess operating areas for unsafe conditions, acts and congestion to maintain safety.
- 2.3 Organise load movement to limit multiple loads being moved at the same time in the same area.
- 2.4 Resolve difficult load shifting situations and incidents in line with organisational safety procedures.
- 2.5 Record and report load shifting processes and equipment faults to appropriate personnel.
