This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to dispatch all waste types to a waste treatment plant or waste disposal facility. The unit covers organising the site, equipment and labour required for waste loading and dispatch in consultation with the waste contractor and personnel at the disposal facility and regulatory bodies. The unit also covers assisting the waste loading process by signalling and providing instructions to the waste contractor, and monitoring the loading site to ensure compliance with instructions, waste containment in the designated loading area and space availability. It also covers ensuring signage is displayed for regulated waste, the integrity of waste containment, and cleaning of the dispatch area and equipment to remove contamination. The unit requires the ability to measure and calculate waste volumes and storage space, and to record the details of the waste dispatch using organisational documentation.The unit supports those who work under limited supervision in a waste management team.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency at the time of endorsement.
