Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply rail safeworking rules and procedures.It includes establishing the purpose and function of safeworking systems, implementing the principles of rail safeworking systems and implementing the principles of track protection systems. This unit covers applying rail safeworking systems, which are integrated systems of operating procedures and engineered systems used in the rail network for safe operation of rail traffic, and protection of people and property. It can be applied to freight, heavy haul or metropolitan and regional passenger rail systems.In applying this unit, the following rail safety operating principles may be involved:ensuring emergencies and incidents are properly managedensuring interfaces between different organisations are properly defined and managedidentifying and managing riskprotecting people from injuryprotecting property from damagetrack accesstrain separation.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
