Description
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to move and position materials to form stockpiles in Civil construction, Coal and Metalliferous mining and Extractive.This unit is appropriate for those working in operational or supervisory roles. No licensing or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for stockpiling operations
- 1.1 Access, interpret and apply stockpiling operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- 1.2 Obtain, interpret and clarify work requirements
- 1.3 Access, interpret and apply geological and survey data required to complete the allocated work
- 1.4 Carry out worksite inspection and rectify or report hazards and/or other notifiable conditions
- 1.5 Communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- 1.6 Select and wear personal protective equipment
- 1.7 Identify, address and report environmental issues
- 1.8 Confirm stockpile boundaries and signage are erected
- 1.9 Access and apply safety information and procedures throughout the work, and ensure safety of personnel, plant and equipment
2. Stockpile materials
- 2.1 Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
- 2.2 Carry out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures
- 2.3 Operate plant and equipment
- 2.4 Act on and report on monitoring systems and alarms
- 2.5 Stockpile materials in specified location
- 2.6 Inspect stockpile structure and surrounding area, and address issues
- 2.7 Identify and manage contaminants to protect quality of material and protect equipment and environment
- 2.8 Construct stockpile according to site stockpile plan
- 2.9 Ensure stockpile has adequate drainage to minimise contamination of stockpile and surrounding areas
- 2.10 Maintain pad according to site parameters
- 2.11 Recognise and respond to hazardous and emergency situations
- 2.12 Complete all written documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- 2.13 Record/pass on end of shift information
3. Carry out post-operational procedures
- 3.1 Inspect, fault find and report equipment faults
- 3.2 Carry out operational maintenance, servicing, lubricating and housekeeping tasks
- 3.3 Visually inspect structures and components for fault conditions, wear and need of repair or replacement
- 3.4 Process written records and reports
