Description

This course is intended to provide existing and aspiring frontline leaders in the disability services sector with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully lead a team of frontline workers delivering services to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants, while contributing to the growth of their organisation.

Upon completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate financial acumen in responsibly managing a budget within the competitive pressures of the disability sector and the parameters of the NDIS operational guidelines.
- Understand and articulate how the work of their team contributes to their organisation's vision, mission and business objectives and to the disability sector, and how decisions support improved customer outcomes and achieve organisational goals.
- Comply with the governance framework and ensures organisational compliance with legislative, regulatory, policy and procedural requirements of the NDIS, while assessing and managing operational risks.
- Facilitate clear and cogent communication between all stakeholders in the disability sector, to foster accountability, authenticity, inclusion and diversity and augment a safe working environment.
- Advocate, negotiate and collaborate with stakeholders in the disability sector in a way that promotes, effective and strategic use of resources and cooperative, respectful relationships to improve customer outcomes in accordance with their NDIS plans.
- Lead, inspire and support frontline workers in the disability sector to effectively deliver services, manage workload, and work collaboratively and consultatively in a culture that promotes equity, responsibility, self development and learning.
- Manage activities through the employee life cycle and the performance of team members.

This is the only accredited qualification designed for experienced and aspiring Frontline Leaders in the National Disability Insurance Scheme to equip them with the skills and knowledge to lead a high performing team, deliver effective services to NDIS participants, and contribute to the growth of your organisation.

Co-designed by Ability First Australia and UNE Partnerships, with extensive consultation from the sector, the Diploma aims to support the career development of experienced and emerging leaders in the disability services sector and includes practical assessments and the opportunity to demonstrate skills in the workplace.

Schedule
To achieve the qualification 11076NAT Diploma of Leadership in Disability Services the learner must complete twelve (12) units:
- Eight (8) core units, plus
- Four (4) elective units, of which,
- Two (2) elective units must be selected from the elective units listed below.
- For the remaining two (2) elective units:
- up to two (2) units may be selected from the elective units listed below.
- If not listed up to two (2) units may be selected from a Diploma or above, from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
