Description
To increase the confidence of mature-age women seeking to return to employment, education and training.
To broaden awareness of the personal, educational and vocational options of mature age women beyond traditional notions of what is appropriate for women.
To increase awareness of issues affecting women's lives and choices and to equip women with communication skills to deal with these issues.
To provide students with technical and mathematical skills that will
enhance their employment and vocational education options.

VET Info Notes
This course has been replaced by a new (AQF) course 7085 Certificate I in New
Opportunities for Women for the year 2000 and beyond. During the transition,
this old course (7089) may be extended in accreditation by TAC (for year 2000
only) to allow colleges to phase out current students or due to colleges being
committed to deliver the old course for year 2000, as resource agreements may
have already being signed of by WADTE for year 2000 delivery.
It is essential that staff delivering this course:
-have a demonstrated commitment to improving women's employment, vocational
education and training
-have experience working with women's groups
-have subject experience
-teach from a women's perspective so that women's past experiences are validated
-have attended appropriate staff development endorsed by the Women's Bureau.

materials are available at campus libraries or through
inter-library loans.
Mathematics - A New Beginning. A resource book for
teachers of adults returning to study is available for
loan from the Women's Bureau.
