State Implementation and Classification
Description
The Certificate III of Teacher Assistant (Indigenous) has been developed to provide students with competencies with an indigenous focus to enable them to work in a variety of settings within the school environment.
On completion of the Certificate, the student will have developed a range of knowledge and skills including:
- Work effectively in an educational environment
- Facilitate the implementation of planned education programs
- Contribute to the education of students in all developmental domains
- Contribute to the safety and health of students
- Provide a communication link between the Aboriginal student and the education program (between student and teacher in the classroom)
- Liaise between the education program and Aboriginal parents and community
- Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm
