VET Info Notes
1 Students entering the Associate Diploma who have completed a
recognised engineering or associated trade course are required to complete 15
modules to be awarded the Advanced Certificate of Engineering and 30 modules to
be awarded the Associate Diploma.

Students entering the Advanced Certificate directly from Year 12 are required
to complete 21 modules to be awarded the Advanced Certificate of Engineering
and 36 modules to be awarded the Associate Diploma.

Recognition of Prior Learning principles may be applied to provide credit for
knowledge and skills already possessed.

2 Modules designated EB must not be selected until all other components
of the course have been successfully completed.

3 The NMEC Trade and Engineering Technician/Associate module banks are
not listed as part of this document. Reference should be made to the current
Module Reference Manuals or the complete module descriptors for further
information.

Both student and total hours are notional and are guidelines for provider
management purposes only.

Instructors and students should be encouraged to take advantage of the
acceleration facility afforded by competency-based training.

In provider planning context:

- a full module represents 36 hours
- a half module represents 18 hours
- a one and a half module represents 54 hours
- a dual module represents 72 hours

This course has been replaced by 8970 Diploma of Engineering.
