Description

This course will enable learners to:

Perform effectively the duties of forensic investigation of in the field of Crime Scene Investigation.

Act in accordance with the procedures laid down by the relevant Police Physical
Evidence Procedures manuals and other quality assurance measures.

Apply appropriate methodology to analysis and interpretation of evidence from crime scenes.

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and expertise relating to the searching, recording, preservation and collection of physical evidence, and skills in analysing the
significance of gathered evidence.

Communicate effectively with scientific or other experts.

Present forensic evidence concisely and accurately to any court of law or judicial
inquiry in a competent and professional manner.

Identify the need for expertise assistance and specify the physical evidence
requirements and the capabilities and limitations of further expert testing techniques.

Apply suitable strategies to deal with management issues which impact on the
processing of physical evidence as it relates to the investigation of crimes and
other incidents.

Demonstrate an ability to undertake physical comparisons including shoemark
and toolmark comparisons.

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and expertise in the identification of vehicles .

Apply appropriate methodology to the analysis and interpretation fingerprint
evidence from the crime scenes/items.

Demonstrate the skills to search for, record, preserve and collect inked and latent
fingerprint marks.
