Description
To provide the student with the technical training
equivalent to 1A, 1B and 2A of the TAFE segment of
the apprenticeship course for Instrument/Electrical
Fitting Trade.
To enhance skill development in all aspects of the
trades, enabling the student to equal the level of
training of an industrial apprentice who has
completed one and one-half years of an
apprenticeship.

1 The course is normally conducted for 33 hours per week for 27 weeks.
2 The subjects 98002 and 98003 each have a duration of 150 hours in this
course.
3 REMEDIAL ACTION
The primary responsibility for remedial action
necessary in the areas of technical training and
related trade subjects rests with individual
lecturer and course co-ordinator.
4 ACCREDITATION
On successful completion of the technical training
section of the course, the student will be credited
with subjects 1A, 1B and 2A of the
Instrument/Electrical Fitting apprenticeship course.
5 SUPPLEMENTARY PRACTICAL SKILLS
Factory and on-site visits should be undertaken when
available and relevant. On-site and on-campus real
work to be undertaken when relevant work available.
6 CERTIFICATE OF PRE-APPRENTICESHIP STUDIES
To be eligible for this award, the student must
reach a pass standard in all subjects in this
course.
7 NEW APPRENTICE TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT SCHEME
For an apprentice to be eligible for a
DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING TRADE
CERTIFICATE, the apprentice must have achieved
the competencies as determined by the rules of the
appropriate Trade Training Schedule (TTS).
Achievement of College-listed competencies for each
apprentice, as listed in the TTS, is to be recorded
on the appropriate Trade Training Schedule
Assessment forms.
The Division of Industrial Training (DIT) will
require a completed College assessment report at the
conclusion of the apprentice's College training.
This report is to be forwarded to DIT prior to the
close of College business in the year of completion.
