Description
To provide training for marine engineering watchkeeping students so that they
develop skills and acquire knowledge in applied thermodynamic principles.
The training will enable learners to solve problems in elementary
thermodynamics.
The module will satisfy the educational requirements specified in Chapter 111
of the annex to the International Convention on Standards of Training,
Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (revised 1995) to the rank of
Marine Engineer Watchkeeper.

Range of Variables
This module is taught in a classroom and laboratory. Integrated
theory/practical teaching method. Equipment in the heat laboratory and/or an
engine simulator will be used in the practical work.

combination of theoretical and practical teaching methods/strategies in class
and in the laboratories.
