Evidence Guide
Internal Assessment 30%
Examination 70%

Students must pass the written paper.

Where a pass is achieved in the written paper, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above.

Otherwise, the overall mark is determined by 100%
weighting for the written paper.

Internal Assessment

Assignments and/or tests requiring design, testing
and coding as follows:

- Terminal input and output only
10%
- Use of one or more text files
10%
- Interactive menu-driven application, using at least three
procedures. 10%

Examination (Duration: two hours)

Two short-answer questions requiring algorithms (N-S
or pseudocode), chosen from the following topics:

- Loops
- Decisions
- Comparisons
- Maxima
- Minima
- Averages
- Totals
30%

Produce Pascal code from a given N-S or psuedocode
design 15%

Using a trace table to determine the correctness
and/or output of a given algorithm.

The following two questions may examine the topics:

- Data Validation
- Sequential File Processing
- Arrays
- Searching
- Sorting
- Program Modularisation.

Design an algorithm which uses standard input and
output. 15%

Design an algorithm which uses text files for either
input or output, or both. 25%
