To teach problem-solving methods and algorithm
design, coding and debugging.

organisation and processing in the C programming

Internal Assessment (2 items) 30%
Students must pass the written paper.
Where a pass is achieved in the written paper, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above.
Otherwise, the overall mark is determined by 100%
weighting for the written paper.
Written Examination (70%)
The examination will consist of 6 questions,
relating to the following topics:
- Data representation and organisation (15%)
- Compiler and linker function (15%)
- Functions and data passing (15%)
- Sequential file processing (15%)
- Programming theory (20%)
- Design of a simple programme (20%)
Internal Assessment Requirements (30%)
- Simple programming exercises involving numeric
calculations, array manipulations and formatted screen input and
output. (15%)
- Modularised programme involving file I/O, single dimension
array processing, and report
generation. (15%)
