Description
To enable learners to develop skills in specialised areas of plant cultural
practices.
To enable learners to develop the skills to spray pesticides safely.

Range of Variables
Delivery to take place in a classroom/demonstration room, tool storage area and
in gardens and/or in a workplace and/or on excursions to provide:
- ready access to garden areas for observation and to provide locations
for learners to learn and practice their skills
- ready access to a wide range of the tools required in sufficient
quantity so that the learners can practice their skills. (Learners are
required to have their own secateurs)
- plants as required for the gardening skills, ie. Bare-rooted plants
and plants for transplanting will need to be available in advance to be ready
for the learners.
Other materials that will need to be provided:
- organic matter of different types
- a weather station properly located and set up
- safety and spraying equipment sufficient for all the learners
- pruning tools.
It is not intended for safety reasons that learners should cli

This subject is to be assessed internally used competence as a measure of
learner achievement.
The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:
- short oral explanations of procedures
- longer written and/or oral tests, and/or
- practical demonstration of the skills required
- assignment
- workbook (compulsory).
