Description
To provide learners with an introduction to the use of non-instrumental chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques for the separation of components in a mixture. Learners will gain knowledge and skills that will support later modules (Gas Chromatography and High Performance Liquid Chromatography).
Range of Variables
This module has the capacity to be delivered either on- or off-the-job.
For full-time learners, it is suggested that the module be sequenced over a
number of weeks (9-18) to allow adequate time for skill formation and rational
use of resources.
Where delivery is by block release, learners could complete this module in a
minimum of 3 days provided that they have prior access to open learning
materials covering all theoretical aspects of the module and already have
relevant laboratory experience.
