Description
To introduce students to the functional components
of computer systems with an emphasis on the
structure, role and evolution of the types of
computers they will encounter in normal business
use.

To introduce students to the terminologies and jargon they will face in dealing
with computers in the normal business environment.

To give students practical experience in the more
basic software they will encounter in normal
business use.

Internal Assessment of practical mastery 50%
One two-hour examination 50%

Students must pass both the internal assessment and
the examination to pass the subject.

Internal Assessment

Internal assessment component should consist of
tests of mastery of the various computer
applications and packages used in the 34-hour
practical lessons.

Examination

The two-hour examination should consist of multiple- choice questions and short
to medium length written answers on the theoretical component (17 hours of
theory lessons).

The examination should also examine practical
aspects of the syllabus, but these questions would
not be specific to a particular software package.
