Description
To provide learners with the knowledge, skills and attributes to understand the implications of Aboriginal morbidity and mortality for Aboriginal people, and their own reactions to death and illness.

To assist the Aboriginal health worker to assist individuals, families and communities to grieve in non-destructive ways.

The potentially sensitive and distressing nature of the contents of this module must be recognised. Considerable debriefing time must be included in the unit. It is vital that the lecturer involved is comfortable with discussing issues concerning grief and loss and is able to ensure the well being of learners. The lecturer should also be aware of counselling and support services available to learners if required.
