To contribute to the advancement of health outcomes for Aboriginal communities and individuals and to bring these to a level at least equal to the standard enjoyed by the rest of the population within Australia by the empowerment of Aboriginal health workers through:

- the provision of education and training for Aboriginal health workers
within a Primary Health Care construct which will enable the provision
of culturally appropriate, competent, confident, safe and professional
services and programs for and with Aboriginal people

- the provision of knowledge, skills and attitudes which will enable
Aboriginal health workers to bring about change and facilitate self-
determination

- the provision of professional knowledge, skills and attitudes which
will enable Aboriginal people to take leadership roles in the
management, development and operation of health programs,
projects and organisations

- the provision of further career pathways and options for participants
who successfully complete this award.
