Description
To provide workshop practice, and the
related theory, that will allow
apprentices to develop basic skills on
the bench, lathe, surface-grinder and
marking-out table.

To develop safe practices in the
workshop.

To provide the apprentice with theory and practice, on the topics of
lubrication, lifting, torque, limits and fits, fasteners and precision
measurement.

Trade Theory - Written paper, one
hour 50 marks

Trade Drawing - Assessment of two
lecturer-marked tests. The two tests
are set down in the Fitting and
Machining Drawing worksheets. 50
marks

Practice - Practical Objectives are designated by a "p", and are assessed in a
series of practical tests, specified in Stage 1 Block B Practical workbook.

Trade Technology Mark = Trade Theory
Mark + Trade Drawing Mark

Practical Mark = The percentage of
Practical Objectives achieved.

Certificate of Trade Studies

The Certificate percentage for each
Semester Stage, shall be the Trade
Technology Mark.

To be eligible for the Certificate of
Trade Studies, the apprentice must
reach a pass standard in both the Trade
Technology Mark and the Practical Mark,
for each Semester Stage.

A Privileged Re-Examination may be
granted on the recommendation of a
Board of Review, when the practice
assessment is satisfactory.
