Description
To provide an opportunity for students to develop
skills in the handling, technology and management of
stored produce (vegetables, fruits and flowers) and
subsequent packaging for marketing.

Series of exercises where tasks have to be completed
to a prescribed checklist.

Write a report or an investigation into two factors
which affect storage of plant produce (Choose from:
oxygen, carbon dioxide, ethylene, temperature, water
and humidity). 12%

Grade, treat and pack selected plant produce for
cold storage.

Set up a cold store (or give a detailed report after a site visit) for storing
selected plant produce. 12%

Select plant produce for marketing to a given
destination, with reference to grading good
presentation, correct packaging of individual
produce items, and correct choice of
containers. 12%
