Description
To develop basic handtool skills, and a useable
building vocabulary.
To provide the student with a structured range of
training objectives that accurately relate to the
skills of the industry in which he/she works.
To ensure that each student attains the prescribed
performance standard for each training unit, and
that those standards equate to the on-site
performance requirement.
To introduce the student to Occupational Health and
Safety issues, relevant to his/her trade.
To provide students with supervised instruction, in
the safe usage and maintenance of hand and portable
power tools.
To raise the skill level to enable greater
productivity.
PREFACE
All practical exercises shall have standards given.
If these standards are not expressed in S.P.O.'s,
they will be found in the standard plans and
specifications provided for each exercise.
Standard plans and specifications will be used, in
conjunction with this syllabus.

Day and Block Release
Theory and Calculations - Total of the end of each
five days' Assessment Sheets (Sheets 11, 12, 13 and
14).
Drawing - Average percentage of the nominated drawings' marks.
Notebook - Percentage mark awarded.
Practical Skills - Total of forty percent of average
of Practical Skills Projects, and sixty percent of
average of nominated Practical Skills Exercises.
Certificate of Trade Studies Subject Awarded

Composite Theory Mark will be calculated, using the following formulae:
Day and Block Release: Theory x 0.3 + Calculations x
0.3 + Drawing x 0.3 + Notebook x 0.1
NOTE: Any student failing more than one of the above
components, must:
- sit a privileged re-examination OR
- re-submit the drawing folio OR
- repeat the block
whichever is considered most appropriate.

Re-Assessment
A privileged re-examination, or practical skills re-assessment, may be granted
on the recommendation of a Board of Review.
