Description
To provide the learner with knowledge of, and basic skills in, common landscape
construction techniques including setting out and the use of concrete, mortar,
paving, bricks, blocks and rocks.

Range of Variables
Delivery will take place in a classroom/workshop and on various sites suitable
for landscaping on campus, at a workplace, or on excursions to suitable
commercial, institutional or residential locations.
It is desirable that learners should have done, or be doing:
- 47236 Drafting and Interpreting Plans, and
- 46237 Surveying for Landscapers
There will need to be an adequate supply of the materials such as sand, cement,
blue metal, bricks, blocks, various types of paving materials, rocks, pond
liners, etc as listed in the Learning Outcomes, delivered to the site in time
for the learners. There will also need to be access to a classroom/workshop
and to a storage facility for sufficient hand tools, tapes, levels and mixers
for the learners to perform the skills required.
The lecturer/facilitator must have a sound knowledge of and appropriate
experience in landscape construction techniques cov

learner achievement.
The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
Appropriate learning outcomes may be grouped together for assessment purposes.
Some learning outcomes may be assessed with the learners working in groups on a
project.
Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:
- short oral explanations of procedures
- longer written and/or oral tests
- practical demonstration of the skills required
- learners must demonstrate the ability to work with concern for their
own safety and the safety of others
