Internal Assessment
Assignment 1
The use of graphics for the representation of data,
e.g. A pie chart, bar chart or line graph, a clock,
a graduated scale for practising the reading of
instruments,
thermometers etc.
Assignment 2
A project of the student's own choosing, to be
judged
mainly on presentation.
Possible Topics For Assignment 2
Business graphics: Drawing bar charts, graphs and
pie charts.
Demonstration of the primitive graphics functions in
the syllabus.
CAD: planning a layout of shapes on a sheet of
material.
CAD: drawing and viewing 3D objects.
Paint and draw: Creating art (?) using 2D graphics.
Building text fonts and printing text, signwriting.
Including pictures and text in one package.
Representing musical notation.
Flight simulation etc.
Special effects for TV advertising etc.
2D animation, board games etc.
Circuit and wiring diagrams, housing and room
layouts.
Cartography and mapping, weather maps.
Educational diagrams, modelling processes, e.g.
engines, nuclear reactors, oil refining, biological

One two hour written examination.
Where a pass is achieved in the written paper, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above.
Otherwise, the overall mark is determined by 100%
weighting for the written paper.
