This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator in the television or radio broadcasting industries who applies a broad range of competencies in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Total number of units = eighteen (18)- eleven (11) core units
- seven (7) elective units
Four (4) elective units must be selected from the list below.
The remaining three (3) elective units may be selected from the remaining elective units listed, any endorsed Training Package or any accredited course at the same qualification level.
Electives must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.
1. Core Units
All eleven (11) units must be completed.
2. Elective Units
At least four (4) units must be chosen from the elective units listed.
