Description
This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies as a range control officer or an assistant range control officer. It also covers the requirements of a range inspector. It qualifies individuals who apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a broad range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional work as a senior operations officer.
The term range refers to any area of land, sea or air that may be designated for military manoeuvres or simulated wartime operations. The range control officer is responsible for the overall management and operation of training areas.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
Twelve (12) units of competency are required for this qualification comprising:- five (5) core units listed below, plus
- seven (7) elective units.
Choose four (4) technical elective units from Group A.
Choose the remaining three (3) elective units from the elective unit lists below or from elsewhere within this Training Package, or from another endorsed Training Package, or from an accredited course.
All elective units chosen from outside this qualification must support the learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.
Elective units chosen must not duplicate content already covered by other units in this qualification.
Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.
