Description
The Diploma of Public Safety (Recovery Management) is designed for managers who lead the implementation of recovery at all levels and chair meetings of recovery committees and functional groups.
Recovery Managers lead the development and maintenance of effective prevention, planning, preparedness and recovery strategies and programs by the provision of recovery management advice and support to strategic stakeholders and partners to support communities to recover from disasters and build community resilience.
The role of Recovery Managers involves liaising with other organisations, providing relief and recovery services to disaster-affected communities, providing psychological first aid, applying recovery concepts and principles, facilitating long-term recovery planning for a disaster event, working within an emergency management context, coordinating recovery work across recovery environments, applying person-centred approaches to recovery planning and activities, and facilitating community involvement in recovery.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
A total of fourteen (14) units of competency comprising:- eleven (11) core units listed below, plus
- three (3) elective units from the general elective units listed below.
Up to two (2) of the general elective units may be selected from elsewhere in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
All elective units selected from outside this qualification must contribute to the vocational outcome of the qualification. Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with.
Where a prerequisite is attached to a unit, it is identified by the symbol * on training.gov.au (TGA).
It is essential that the prerequisite units identified by the symbol * below are obtained prior to the issuance of this unit to individuals within the fire sector or the units contributing to the attainment of fire qualifications.
