Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to oversee compliance of the maintenance quality system, using performance indicators, within a team environment.Quality control is a process through which an organisation seeks to ensure that significant variations in quality are kept to a minimum. Quality control in power generation facilities will focus on a set of procedures intended to ensure that personnel, plant and equipment operate efficiently. Competency in this unit requires the ability to formulate team aspects of the quality system andfacilitate team quality systems. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator, in a power generation facility. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Formulate team aspects of the quality system
  • 1.1 Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, legislative requirements, codes of practice, manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications, environmental requirements and workplace procedures are identified, applied and monitored
  • 1.2 Team performance indicators are identified from relevant personnel and documentation in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.3 Quality system documentation is obtained and modified in accordance with quality assurance standards and workplace procedures
2 Facilitate team quality systems
  • 2.1 Team discussion on quality system is undertaken in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.2 Quality system is monitored in accordance with quality assurance standards and workplace procedures
  • 2.3 Quality system is reviewed with the team to ensure currency and relevance in accordance with quality assurance standards and workplace procedures
  • 2.4 Quality system records for the team are maintained in accordance with quality assurance standards and workplace procedures
