Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to cut, assemble and package tracking components and curtain hardware in preparation for onsite fitting.The unit applies to individuals who follow established procedures in curtain tracks manufacture and work under limited supervision.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare to make up tracks
  • 1.1 Identify task requirements from work documentation
  • 1.2 Identify and follow work health and safety and personal protection requirements of assembly according to workplace procedures
  • 1.3 Select tools and equipment to meet task requirements, and check they are safe and functional
  • 1.4 Select and source materials from stock and check type, colour and quality against job requirements and technical specifications
2. Assemble and check tracking components
  • 2.1 Operate and monitor cutting machinery in accordance with workplace procedures and work health and safety requirements
  • 2.2 Identify and report operational problems in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 2.3 Follow workplace procedures to minimise waste and collect and store re-usable materials
  • 2.4 Collect and assemble components to complete tracking, and check against work instructions
  • 2.5 Apply product tags, instructions and labels where required to meet domestic corded internal window coverings safety standards
3. Package components and finalise work
  • 3.1 Complete final checks for quality and quantity in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Package and prepare components for distribution in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Check, clean and store tools and equipment, and tag and report faulty items according to workplace procedures
  • 3.4 Remove waste and clean work area in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.5 Report completion of work following workplace procedures
