Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Design garment
  • 1.1 Influences and inspirations for design are identified and explored.
  • 1.2 Storyboard or sketches are produced to assist in development of ideas and design concepts.
  • 1.3 Design principles are applied to design concepts.
  • 1.4 Production requirements for design concepts are identified.
  • 1.5 Ideas and design concepts are discussed with appropriate people for review and development.
  • 1.6 Design concepts are modified and confirmed.
2 Prepare for garment production
  • 2.1 Pattern or blocks are selected to modify for design.
  • 2.2 Pattern is developed for garment production according to size and design requirements.
  • 2.3 Fabric, materials, tools and equipment are selected and prepared.
  • 2.4 Equipment is checked to ensure correct operation.
  • 2.5 Ability of tools and equipment to achieve plan is assessed.
  • 2.5 Additional resources that may be required are identified.
3 Produce garment
  • 3.1 Equipment is used to produce garment according to pattern and required OHS practices.
  • 3.2 Garment is checked against pattern and design.
  • 3.3 Minor process faults are identified and corrected where necessary.
  • 3.4 Production techniques and design are continuously reviewed in an iterative manner to make improvements.
4 Complete production process
  • 4.1 Garment is finished according to design requirements.
