This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to assemble, clean, disassemble and operate a bandsaw.This unit is applicable to workers in meat processing plants, smallgoods factories, boning rooms, food services operations, knackeries, game meat processing plants, wholesale and retail operations.This unit must be delivered in the context of Australian meat processing standards and regulations.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Assemble a bandsaw
  • 1.1 Assemble bandsaw according to manufacturer's specifications and workplace requirements.
  • 1.2 Checked bandsaw guards and scrapers for functioning and safety according to manufacturer's specifications and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • 1.3 Check bandsaw to ensure it is clean in accordance with hygiene and sanitation, and workplace requirements.
2. Operate a bandsaw
  • 2.1 Operate bandsaw in accordance with workplace requirements and manufacturer's specifications.
  • 2.2 Operate bandsaw in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • 2.3 Use bandsaw to cut meat products according to product specifications and workplace requirements.
3. Clean a bandsaw
  • 3.1 Clean bandsaw to manufacturer's, hygiene, workplace health and safety and workplace requirements.
4. Disassemble bandsaw
  • 4.1 Disassemble bandsaw according to manufacturer's, workplace health and safety and workplace requirements
