This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to seek ideas for own creative work by collecting and reviewing information; and then to use those ideas and creative techniques safely to develop that work. The creative work may be an oral, aural, visual or performance piece.It applies to individuals who, with the help, feedback and supervision of key people, integrate ideas and techniques in any creative context to produce creative work in any form.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Seek ideas for own creative work
  • 1.1 Identify and collect information about ideas for creative work from a range of sources
  • 1.2 Organise collected information in a way that helps develop ideas
  • 1.3 Review information and draw out ideas for creative work, with help from key people
  • 1.4 Choose ideas to progress, based on information review and with help from key people if required
2. Prepare for creative work
  • 2.1 Identify tools, equipment and materials needed to develop creative ideas
  • 2.2 Prepare tools, equipment and materials safely and sustainably under supervision from others and according to relevant procedures
  • 2.3 Check work space for cleanliness and safety in preparation for creative work
3. Develop creative work
  • 3.1 Identify and follow steps required to develop creative work
  • 3.2 Use basic creative techniques and tools, equipment and materials relevant to the creative form being developed safely and sustainably
