Description

The Certificate I in Entry to General Education (EGE) is designed to meet the needs of people who have had little or no effective education in English. The core of the course offers the basics of reading, writing and numeracy skills. The electives focus on the knowledge and skills required by adults in our modern society. This course targets people who are Level 1 or below according to Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

This course plays a critical role in ensuring that ‘at risk’ students receive the training required to build a bridge between their current skill levels and the skill levels required for employment, healthy engagement in a community and wellbeing.

Schedule
Students who complete all the requirements of the course will be issued with a Certificate I in Entry to General Education. A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency/module completed if the full qualification is not completed.

The Certificate I in Entry to General Education consists of two components:
- seven (7) core units (320 hours)
- 200-220 hours of elective units

The three streams are:
- Reading and Writing (core)
- Mathematics (core)
- Speak and Listen (oracy) (elective)
