Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse and document the breakdown of music and voice soundtracks for sound recorded in digital and analogue formats.It applies to individuals working as sound technicians. They are responsible for synchronising soundtracks to pictures, auditioning material and selecting tracks that best meet technical and creative requirements. Their analysis of soundtracks is used by film editors as they edit or animate films.People responsible for dubbing films into different languages and those working in film and sound archives also apply these skills on a regular basis. This work is undertaken with some supervision and guidance.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Carry out analysis of soundtrack elements
  • 1.1 Select appropriate equipment to perform soundtrack breakdown according to production requirements
  • 1.2 Break down soundtrack and accurately analyse required elements
  • 1.3 Confirm storage requirements and store breakdown accordingly
  • 1.4 Report problems with soundtrack to relevant people
2. Complete soundtrack analysis
  • 2.1 Document soundtrack breakdown clearly and legibly in the required format
  • 2.2 Gather and include information from relevant sources in documentation
  • 2.3 Supply breakdown in line with production requirements
