Description

To provide workplace-focused communication and English as a second
language for migrant women at entry level. The course considers the impact
of migration on self esteem and fosters confidence and personal
management skills. It includes an introduction to Australian workplace culture,
computing and office technology, accelerated learning, skills identification,
education and employment avenues and numeracy.

GENERAL NOTES

1. This course is the copyright of the Western Australian Department of
Training. Training providers who wish to deliver this program must obtain
written approval from the proponent and be registered by their State
accrediting body.

2. The proponent for this course is the West Coast College of TAFE, 35
Kendrew Crescent, Joondalup WA 6027. The course was originally accredited in
Western Australia from 19/11/98 to 31/12/2001. Following delivery for three years, the course was evaluated and reviewed during 2001 and submitted for re-accreditation to the WA Training Accreditation Council.

3. Further information on this program may be obtained from the Manager,
Training Products Information Service (TPIS) at the WA Department of Training
(08) 9235 6222 or the proponent.

4. This course was originally entered on to the CMS/STARS by West Coast College of TAFE
on 03/11/98.

5. Following the course's evaluation and review during 2001 and subsequent re-accreditation, minor adjustments were made to the content and hours of some modules. These adjustments were made on STARS on 24/10/2001 for delivery in 2002 onwards. Overall course intent, aims and hours were preserved.
