Description
This is a pre-vocational course for learners seeking to gain an apprenticeship in the Construction industry, following senior secondary school studies. Learners can complete common core competencies shared between 11 Construction trades, then select additional competencies from ONE trade pathway.
Learners will develop relevant technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for further training in construction as well as skills, knowledge and experiences that may be transferable to other industry areas.
Schedule
- VET in Schools Pathway for students completing senior secondary education in conjunction with a VET program. The nominal hours for the units of competence and 220 hours of Work Placement meets the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and WA Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements.
- Pre-Apprenticeship Pathway for students who have left school and are studying full-time at a Registered Training Provider. Pre-apprentice students are to undertake Work Placement or Work Experience in accordance with guidelines (business rules) established by the Department of Training and Workforce Development or relevant State Training Authority.
PACKAGING RULES
Thirteen (13) units must be completed in total.

Work Placement:
Workplace Learning or Work Experience undertaken concurrently with delivery of this course is mandatory to achieve the qualification and consolidate student learning and skills development. The duration will depend on delivery Pathway (above).
* The elective units listed for each trade are a suggested model program. Additional electives for each trade group may be selected from the same trade Certificate III qualification as currently endorsed within the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. Elective units must be chosen within the context of the trade-specific pathway that is being undertaken.
