Description
To introduce the student to the basic skills of
bricklaying, the characteristics he/she must develop
to become a skilled tradesperson, and the essential
qualities necessary in high quality brickwork.

To give the student a basic knowledge of materials
used in the trade, introduce him/her to the skills
of pointing and jointing.

To give the student knowledge of materials, with
emphasis on functions, types and batching of mortar.

To introduce the techniques of job set-out and
footing types, used in the construction of single-
and double-storey buildings.

To give experience in the use of levelling
instruments, squaring devices and associated
calculations.

nominated practical skills exercises.

Composite Theory Mark will be calculated, using the following formulae:
