This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use a dictionary to learn new words, use phonemes (speech sounds) and syllables to sound out familiar multi-syllable words, continue to build upon use of graphemes (spelling choices) to spell words correctly and build a vocabulary of at least 50 high frequency and personal words.
